POLHN PA 215 Pharmacy Practice (Part I)

The PA215 Pharmacy Practice unit is offered in two parts over semesters 1 & 2 of the Fiji School of Medicines year calendar. This unit is an accredited undergraduate course towards a Bachelor of Pharmacy or a Pharmacy Technician Diploma or a Diploma in Pharmacy.

Part I introduces students to the concept of drug management and the importance of fulfilling the components of the drug cycle in order to establish a sustainable drug supply system. The course is divided into several areas covering all aspects of essential medicines management. As well as the history of essential drugs concepts, this course covers Policy and Legal Frameworks, the Drug Management Cycle (including procurement, placing tenders, ordering supplies, etc.), and Management Support Systems that lead to sustainable supply and rational use of medicines.

Only participants that have successfully completed Part I will be allowed to continue into Part II. Initial eligibility will be granted according to Fiji School of Medicine’s Academic Rules and Regulations. This course will commence during the week beginning 7 April 2008 and continues for 12 weeks.

Admission Requirement:

A pass in the Fiji Learning Certificate or University of South Pacific Foundation or its equivalent in English along with best of three from mathematics, Chemistry (at least 65%), Biology and Physics with a minimum aggregate of 280 out of 400.
